Alright
I’ll blog too since it’s been like FOREVER.
I’ll start way back.
A few weeks ago we went to Austin for the weekend so I could do a 63 mile ride from Mellow Johnny’s. It was a tough ride. I went into it a little too cocky. I hadn’t considered all the hills. By the last 8 miles back into Austin (we rode to San Marcos and back) I was spent. Some dude took pity on me a gave me a GU shot. Weak, I know. Still it was fun. It wasn’t fun when I went down going 22 miles an hour uphill, due to gravel. It wasn’t pretty. I got back to Camille’s house to shower and peeled my shorts off the wound. It had dried up and the salt from my sweat had crystalized on the wound. It just felt numb on the way back, but I hadn’t realized how bad it was until I took the shorts off. The swelling took about three days to subside. Still, I wouldn’t have traded it for the world. While at the bike shop in Austin I bought me one of these lovely things:
made of lovely sport wool and looks better than anything else I’ve seen. Sure it was a little over what I would ever plan to spend on a jersey, but it’s been well worth it. And I look good in it.

While in Austin we got to hang out with a good friend that I went to high-school with. I’m very relieved that it was a pleasant experience and not at all weird for her and Jen. It went so well that my friend brought up meeting for lunch the next day after my ride. We did. Kerbey Lane didn’t disappoint, as usual. It was good to chat with an old friend face to face instead of some weak attempt at conversation through Facebook. We hope to visit again soon before the summer ends to take her tubing down the Guadalupe River.

So I have a new job now doing pretty much what I used to do on the web. I’m passionate about it and I come home feeling alright with what I’ve accomplished and look forward to going to work in the morning. Sure the shirt is cheesy too, but at least it’s black. Since working there I’ve decided to make a few upgrades to GRIMACE and The Bianchi. I’ll more than likely upgrade The Bianchi to Chorus components and maybe swap the Daytona components to GRIMACE and add a white saddle with matching bar tape. The Bianchi will pretty much follow the setup of what I’ve seen on Tommasini and Justin’s bitching Tarmac. It’ll be expensive, but a little at a time. Also, I’ve decided to sell my car. So that should help too. We can get by with just one car. We both are biking to work anyway, so why the hell not.

We had a reception. It was a whole lot of fun and we were glad to have had those who came. Those who didn’t come; we wish you made it. It was short and sweet and not over the top, because really, what’s the point of excess? I’m grateful that I’ve married someone who understands that and can differentiate quality vs quantity. It was just what we wanted. No chicken dance or cheesy rehearsed ensembles. I had chocolate cake and ice cream. I also had a little too much to drink… I hear. No, I got totally wasted back at home. I’m glad Jen’s parents weren’t here for that. At one point I was naked in the pool. So I’m told. I also locked myself in the bathroom for an hour and a half. Some thought it was excessive. I just needed some “Me” time, alright! No. I was pretty sauced. Still, it was fun and no one was hurt. Except, Rolf a bit, when I dragged him into the pool. Poor cat. Did I learn anything of value from that whole ordeal? Of course I did; Always keep your bathroom clean. For real.

By now most of everyone has seen The Dark Knight. With good reason too. It was better than I expected. I feel kind of bad for Christian Bale, though. Most people will remember it more for Heath’s performance than Bale’s grunts of dialogue, when in costume. Though the interrogation scene seemed like he was really into character. It pretty much owned. Even Jen (does not like sci-fi or comic book stuff or Fantasy. Though for some reason Harry Potter doesn’t fall into that genre. It does to me anyway) loved it. She did make Batman Begins memorable for both of us though. [I'm giving her the Apple Hottie Salute]

Today listening to Pandora, I bought two albums. Pandora is pretty nice. It’s like hanging out with a friend that always has good music playing. When you ask who’s playing or where they got it, they reply with, “Oh I dunno, I just picked it up somewhere.” It’s like that, minus the pretentious attitude. Anyway, Mickey Mouse Operation by Little People is my current favorite album, as a result of a whole hour of Pandora. I’m in love with the cover art. Jen got me into RJD2 back when we met. He never lets up. Just listen to the intro to Mad Men. We’re both pretty much hooked on the show. So I typed in RJD2 into the suggestion box and it was followed by DJ Shadow and then Little People. It’s not a bad way to find new music of your favorite genre.
makes me smile every time.

I’m very much not the Comic Sans of husbands. I’m all Bodoni. Sometimes Caslon. Helvetica Neu. You get the Idea.

I got a call from the dermatologist yesterday. They have no clue what the spots on my face are. Even after a biopsy. I rescheduled with a different doc. Their results showed that it wasn’t malignant or permanent. There is enough pigmentation to rule out vitiligo. Which is good news, but not knowing what it is makes me uneasy. It’s slowly going away though.
