I had my first race as well a couple of weeks ago. The crit totally blew up, but I had better luck with the road race. I still didn't do great but I was happy with not being dead last like in the crit. All the more motivation to get in shape. It was a TON of fun though, despite the setbacks. As you might already know, I'm currently living in the north east, where it ain't exactly flat. My greatest weakness right now is on the hills, especially when it comes to 6-8% grade inclines, which completely suck the life out of me.
